Boston Harbor is the site of mysterious occurrences.

January 18, 1643

According to Ebenezer Clapp’s History of Dorchester, “there were strange sights seen about Castle Island, and the Governor’s Island.” One is a figure, “in form like a man, that would sometimes cast flames and sparkles of fire. This was seen about eight of the clock in the evening by many. About the same time a voice was heard between Boston and Dorchester upon the water in a dreadful manner, crying out, ’Boy, boy, come away, come away. . .'” About fourteen days after, the same voice was heard in the like dreadful manner; divers sober persons were witnesses thereof, at both times, on the other side of the town, toward Noddles Island.”
